FORTRAN a BASIC computer Language

Posted on Jun 30, 2009 under Celebrities, Education, business, computer | No Comment

This language was developed in 1954 to cater to the scientific applications. FORTRAN could accommodate and solve mathematical equations at a faster rate. Various versions of FORTRAN like ANSI FORTRAN, FORTRAN IV, FORTRAN 77, and FORTRAN 95 are available to compile and execute FORTRAN program. Therefore by inserting the statement in the appropriate place does the modification in the programs. The language has many mathematical built in functions that help in solving the numerical and statistical applications. This language features weak file handling techniques and hence is not suited for large data processing applications. Scientists and engineers use FORTRAN to a greater extent.
A FORTRAN program consists of a main program and a set of sub programs that are compiled separately. These compiled modules are linked together and loaded during the final compilation. FORTRAN does not provide dynamic memory management and supports only static memory management only storage allocation should be done prior running to the program.

Many people like to have pet in their home but they regret to have reason is their children. They feel it is harmful for their children health and because of the Dog hair some disease may come. But the fact is one can have the dog with all the preventive steps, because of having a pet one can be benefited physically and mentally. The behavior of the pet makes the people to feel happy which helps to forget the pains of the pet owners. It is also proved that growing pets make the people to feel easy which leads to a healthy life. Growing a dog is not a thing but in a perfect way will benefit the owner, if it is grown in a wrong way it leads to many problems.
Mainly people scar to have dog because it may bite the children it is true but prevention should be taken to avoid those things. A report has given in that, each year about one million people report having been bitten by a dog. It is estimated that another million people experience a bite, but fail to report it. It has also been shown that about 60% of the dog bite victims are children, boys between the ages of 6 and 9. Most of these bites on children occur on the face, and the dog bite injuries can cost insurance companies hundreds of millions of dollars.

Agriculture is the backbone of India which is known to everyone in India but agriculture has been affected by many reasons. Rate of agriculture is decreased when compare to before years, to stop this problem now Anna university students in Chennai organized a public relations campaign on ‘Development of agriculture’ at Madambakkam, near East Tambaram recently. The campaign focussed on developing agriculture and explaining about the importance of agriculture to the local former.
A website on agriculture designed by the students was handed over to the Department of Agriculture, Tamilnadu.Speaking on the occasion, head of Department of Media Sciences, Anna University, V Sundareswaran said ‘green signal means to move forward and by green revolution, let us co-operate with our farmers to make our country move forward.’ Students explained about all the chemical products and about the soil. Mainly about agro products are students explained to the farmers especially the main purpose of it.

Vitamin C has anti ageing properties

Acknowledged as a nutrient vital for a robust immune system, Vitamin C may also be crucial for slowing down the human body’s ageing process. The study published in the latest edition of the American journal Rejuvenation Research has underscored a protective mechanism in the human body aimed at maintaining the level of ascorbic acid in blood plasma, which invariably keeps falling with age. Rizvi, who is a professor of biochemistry at the Allahabad University, said the human body is endowed with several anti-oxidant defense mechanisms to minimize damage from free radicals. Vitamin C happens to be one of the most important among such defense mechanisms.

For his study, Rizvi had collected blood samples of 61 healthy people in the age group of 22-79 years and studied the activity of the enzymes ‘AFR relocates and PMRS which are responsible for transporting electrons from inside the cell to outside which helps maintain the level of ascorbic acid in the blood. While the minimum amount of the vitamin required for humans is 100 grams per day, it may, however, not be sufficient to bring the therapeutic effects into play. Until medicines, which can boost the two enzymes, are available people can carry forward their battle against aging with the help of a diet rich in Vitamin C found in abundance in green chilies, lemons, oranges and guavas.

X chromosomes

Researchers have found nine new genes on the X-chromosome that, when knocked out, lead to learning disabilities. An international team of researchers, from more than 70 countries, studied almost all X chromosome genes in 208 families with learning disabilities and found approximately 1-2 per cent of X chromosome genes, when knocked-out, have no apparent effect on an individual’s ability to function in the ordinary world. Estimates suggest that the prevalence of learning disability is 2-3 per cent. Learning disability is significantly more common in males than in females and genetic causes have long been sought on the Xchromosome. Males have only one X chromosome and so a gene mutation on the X is more likely to have an effect in males than in females. In part because of their apparent effects in males, X-linked disorders have been well studied by geneticists over the past 25 years.

In the future, similar strategy will be used to find disease causing sequence variants implicated in other complex genetic diseases. Some characteristics in common could be identified in patients with variants in the same gene. However, in many, learning disability was the only feature. The newly identified genes play roles in a wide range of biological processes suggesting that disruption to many cellular machines can damage the nervous system.

Sweeter Tooth

Sweet stuff attracts boys more than girls, says a new study. Researchers at University of Copenhagen in Denmark have carried out the study and found that though girls have a finer sense of taste than boys, the latter have a sweeter tooth. According to them, on average boys need 10 per cent more sourness and 20 per cent more sweetness in their grub to recognise how tasty it is. But, boys prefer wild and extreme tastes compared to the muted flavours favoured by girls. In fact, the researchers have based their findings on an analysis of the tasting ability of 9,000 schoolchildren by giving them a sample testing kit and asking them questions on their food habits.

Surprisingly, 30 per cent of the participants said they would prefer non sugary soft drinks. Meanwhile, the greatest shift in recognizing taste comes between the ages of 13-14 years, when children become sensitive to sourness and their love of sweetness starts to wane. It is why many young teens claim they are not fussy eaters, the study revealed. Lead researcher Bodil Allesen-Holm said the results provided food for thought for the food industry and parents. ‘According to the findings, healthy snacks could easily be developed for boys with slightly extreme and sour flavours. ‘The study was carried out in assistance with a team from the Danish Science Communication.

Birthday stone

Everyone likes to present a unique gift on their loved one’s birthday. Especially jewelry satisfies this condition because everyone in the world like jewels mostly ladies. And if you are looking for a jewelry gift that is not only pretty, but also personal, consider a birthstone. Each month has a precious and semiprecious or alternate birthstone, so you should be able to find birthstone jewelry in a wide price range. Many people like to wear their birthstone, or their children’s’ birthstones, as a personal expression, and many believe folklore that says their birthstones will bring them luck and good fortune. Here is some information on the summer birthstones of June, July, and August.

The precious birthstone for June is the pearl. Pearls come in two types, natural and cultured. Pearls are made by oysters, clams, and other mollusks. When sediment or parasites invade their shells, mollusks coat them with a substance that is hard and shiny, and eventually, a pearl is created. Natural pearls are those found in mollusks in the wild, and were created in a process unaffected by humans. They are difficult to find, and most of the pearls sold today are cultured pearls. Additionally, July’s precious birthstone is the ruby, and it is a red color. Many people do not know that rubies are second only to diamonds as the hardest substances on earth.

Diamonds and computer

The first wave of gem-quality manufactured diamonds hit the market late in 2003. Man-made diamonds is nothing new and the technology has been available since the mid 19th century. Small diamond crystals were created for industrial purposes such as grinding wheels, drill bits and saw blades. What is new is that a Florida based company can now produce rough 3-carat gem-quality diamonds 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at a cost of less than $100 dollars. Each diamond must have the same electrical properties and the next. Diamonds are naturally insulators and to become semiconductors for the computer industry they must be able to conduct both a negative and positive charge.

As of 2003 the Apollo Diamond company has been successful in creating 10 mm square diamond wafers and predicts it will be able to produce 4 inch wafers within five years. Europe and Japan have been investing heavily in diamond semiconductor research. The Japanese government has allocated over $6 million dollars a year to build the first-generation diamond computer chip. Microprocessor chips can generate up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If they get much hotter the silicon will simply turn into a puddle. Diamonds can solve this problem because they can stand much higher temperatures than silicon.

Synthetic diamond

As the name implies synthetic diamonds look like real diamonds but do not have the same properties as real diamonds. The ability to determine the differences between chemical composition, hardness, weight, and some of the light handling characteristics of real diamonds and synthetic diamonds with the naked eye is extremely difficult. Man-made diamonds are not considered synthetic diamonds because they do have the same properties as real or mined diamonds. Cut Glass was probably the first material used to simulate a diamond. It is readily available, easy to cut and polish and when seen from a distance, looks good. With all of the information available to today’s consumer trying to pass cut glass off as a diamond rarely works. Cut glass is still seen in costume jewelry and in the movies today because of its extremely low cost. The use of cut glass has widely been replaced by the most popular diamond alternative, cubic zirconium

With the high quality of synthetic diamond on the market the only way you can be sure that you have a genuine diamond is to have it certified and if you are purchasing a new diamond insist on a certification before purchasing. It will tell you the stone’s carat weight, its color and clarity, and its flaws. If the seller is unwilling to supply a certification with the diamond then he may not be telling the truth and you should find someone who will. After all when you want to sell the diamond the new owner will want a certification from you. Here are a few suggestions for testing to see if you are looking at a genuine diamond or a synthetic before you invest in a more conclusive test. Careful clean any oil and dirt from the surface of the diamond and then gently blow upon the surface of the stone and if your breath shows for a few seconds after, you have a fake.
